6 pro-BNP lawyers get bail
The High Court today granted anticipatory bail to six pro-BNP lawyers for four weeks in three separate criminal cases.
Of them, five lawyers got bail in a case filed for damaging a car of an HC judge, attacking policemen and barring lawmen from discharging their duties at Supreme Court premises on January 5.
The cases were filed with Shahbagh Police Station on January 6.
The lawyers are: Supreme Court Bar Association Secretary AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, bar council member Sanaullah Miah, Sharif Uddin Ahmed, Fahima Nasreen and Lipi Akter.
The court also granted bail to BNP standing committee member Rafiqul Islam Miah in two cases filed with Paltan Police Station on Tuesday. The cases were filed against him for provoking people to torch a motorbike at Paltan on January 5.
The accused lawyers appeared before the HC bench of Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Haque and Justice Kashefa Hussain this morning for seeking bail in the cases.
Earlier, they also filed separate bail petitions upon which the court granted bail.
