6.3kg gold seized at Ctg airport, 3 detained
Customs intelligence officials seized 54 gold bars weighing 6.3 kilograms, and detained three passengers of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong this morning.
The seized gold would worth Tk 2.7 crore, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting Customs Intelligence Assistant Director Nahid Nawshad Mukul.
The officials recovered the gold bars from the passengers of BG-048, which landed at the airport from Dubai around 10:30am, said Md Mosear Rahman, assistant commissioner of airport customs.
The detainees -- Md Rezauddin Rana, Md Osman Gani and Md Aiyub -- were carrying the gold bars inside their shoes, Mukul said.
The recovery came two days after the customs intelligence officials recovered 902 gold bar weighing 105kg and worth Tk 45 crore in polythene bags beneath passengers’ seats from BG-026.
