5 ‘professional’ kidnappers held
Law enforcers nabbed five “professional” abductors including a woman from Dhaka and Sirajganj yesterday.
The newly-formed anti-kidnapping squad conducted separate drives at Turag area of Dhaka district and Sirajganj between May 17 night and last night to nab the kidnappers, Sanowar Hossain, additional deputy commissioner of the squad told The Daily Star.
Police identified the “abductors” while investigating a kidnapping case, the police official said.
The DB police also recovered a handcuff and Tk 1 lakh, which was given as ransom by the victim’s family members, from their possession, he added.
Identities and details of the drive will be available after a press conference this afternoon at Dhaka Metropolitan Police Media Centre.
An “anti-kidnapping squad” was formed by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on May 3 to fight the ongoing kidnapping spree in the country.
