4kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Customs authorities have seized four gold bars weighing four kilogrammes at the Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.

Acting on a tip-off, the officials searched the belongings of a flight of Tigerair that landed at the airport around 10:30pm yesterday and found the gold stuffed inside a television, said Md Wazed Ali, assistant commissioner of customs.

The customs official said market price of the gold bars is around Tk two crore.

The flight came from Singapore and none could be arrested in this regard.
