4 killed in Mymensingh road crash
At least four people were killed and two injured critically as a bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Beltoli area of Sadar upazila in Mymensingh early today.
The deceased who died on the spot were identified as Arif Mia, 28, driver of the auto-rickshaw and its passengers Saidul Hasan Ripon, 40, Atiqur Rahman, 22, and Selim, 45, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.
The accident took place in the area round 6:30am when a Mymensingh-bound bus of Ena Paribahan from Dhaka rammed the CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, quoting Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge of the Kotwali Police Station, the correspondent said.
The two injured were also sent to the MMCH in critical condition, the OC said.
Driver of the bus managed to flee the scene, the police official said.
The victims were coming to Trishal for catching fish with wheeled fishing hooks, the OC said.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to the MMCH for autopsy.
Law enforcers also seized the bus and the auto-rickshaw.
Vehicular movement on the highway was suspended for around an hour from 6:45am following the accident.
