4-day BGB-BSF confce starts at Tamabil today
A four-day conference between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will begin at Tamabil on Sylhet-Meghalaya border today.
Brigadier General Latiful Haider, commander of BGB North-East region will lead the 20-member team while Sree Sudesh Kumar, inspector general of BSF's Meghalaya region, will lead the Indian side at the conference scheduled to be held at the BGB Border Conference Centre at the frontier in the morning.
Region Commander of Chittagong Brigadier General Habibul Karim and eight sector commanders of Sylhet, Srimangal, Comilla, Mymensingh, Cox's Bazar, Guimara, Bandarban and Khagrachhari will join the meeting while Inspectors General of Guahati, Mizoram & Cachhar and Tripura along with 11 Deputy Inspectors General will join the Indian side.
Contacted, Commander Shah Alam Chowdhury, director of the BGB 41 Battalion in Sylhet, said issues like killing of innocent Bangladeshis on border, illegal trespass, smuggling, human trafficking etc will be discussed at the conference.
