4.2kg gold recovered from Dhaka airport
Customs officials detained a Bangladeshi national with 36 gold bars at capital’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this morning.
Acting on a tip-off, the airport customs checked the luggage of Jamal Uddin, a passenger of Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ flight BG048 from Dubai, around 10:30am while crossing the green channel, said Shamprity Pramanik, assistant commissioner of the customs.
The gold bars were found from inside the frame of a kid’s cycle, kept inside Jamal’s luggage, the official added.
The bars weighed 4.2kgs and the price is approximately Tk 2.5 crore, she said.
