38 BNP men indicted

Police yesterday submitted a charge sheet against 38 leaders and activists of JCD, Swechhasebok Dal and BNP in a case filed for setting a bus afire that left a man dead during an opposition-led agitation programme in 2011.
The charge sheet includes district BNP joint convener Shamsuzzaman Zaman, also central vice-president of the Jatiyotabadi Swechhasebok Dal, city BNP joint secretary Azmal Bakht Sadek, Dakshin Surma upazila BNP former president ATM Foyez and district JCD assistant general secretary Shakil Morshed.
On December 18 in 2011, police filed the case. The panicked passengers managed to get down while one failed and was burnt dead. A few days later, film actress Shabnur in a petition to the police claimed the deceased as her father Kazi Nasir, 70.
