36 rescued while being trafficked to India
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 36 people, while they were being trafficked to India through Putkhali border in Benapole and Hili border in Dinajpur early yesterday morning and Thursday night.
Our Benapole correspondent reported that members of 23 BGB Battalion, acting on a tip-off, raided Putkhali border area at around 6:00am and rescued 35 people, including seven women and two children, while they were being trafficked to India.
BGB Battalion Commander Lt Col majharul islam said the victims hail from different areas of Faridpur, Narail and Khulna districts. They were later handed over to Benapole Port Police station, he added
The traffickers managed to flee, sensing the presence of the border guards.
In Dinajpur, BGB members rescued a boy while he was being trafficked to India through Hili border under Hakimpur upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The boy was identified as Razu Hasan 8, son of Golap Hossain of Avirampur village under Birampur upazila.
BGB quoted Razu's statement as saying that one Budu Mia of Avirampur area took him to Hili border area.
As BGB men challenged the man, he managed to flee the scene, leaving Razu there. BGB rescued the boy and handed him to Hakimpur Police Station.
