35 rescued while being trafficked to India
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 35 people including women and children when they were being trafficked to India through Putkhali bordering area of Benapole this morning.
On information, the border guards conducted a drive in the area around 6:00am and rescued the 35 persons when they were crossing the border, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting BGB 23 Battalion Commander Lt Col Majharul Islam.
Twenty six men, seven women and two children are among the rescued persons, the BGB official said.
The traffickers, however, managed to flee the scene sensing presence of the BGB personnel.
The victims, hailed from different districts including Faridpur, Narail and Khulna, were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, the commander said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
