34 hurt in Gazipur BNP-cop clash

At least 34 people were injured in a clash between the leaders and activists of BNP and law enforcers in Gazipur this afternoon.
The clash ensued as police tried to intercept BNP’s procession in front of its party office in Railway Gate area around 12:30pm, said Khandakar Rezaul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Jaydebpur Police Station.
At one stage, police fired gunshots, rubber bullets and tear gas canisters when the activists hurled several crude bombs at the law enforcers, leaving 34 leaders and activists injured, the police officer said.
Of the inured, four sustained bullet wounds, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
Earlier, they held a rally there around 12:00pm as part of the party’s countrywide demonstrations protesting denial of permission to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on November 7.
