33 to contest in three of 13 Kishoreganj upazilas
Aspirants are moving door to door seeking votes ahead of the March 15 elections in three out of 13 upazilas in the district.
Fifteen candidates will contest for chairman, 10 for vice-chairman and 8 for female vice-chairman posts on the day.
In Kishoreganj Sadar upazila, Syed Ashfakul Islam (AL), Abdul Hai (Independent), Md Mafiz Uddin (AL), Md Shariful Islam (BNP), Salahuddin Ahmed Salu (BNP), Anwar Kamal (AL), Sheikh Selim Kabir (AL), Ismail Hossain Babul (JP) and Md. Masud Mia (BSD) to vie for chairman post.
Mamun Al Masud Khan (AL) and Burhan Uddin Jami (BNP), Pallab Kar (AL), Md Nazmul Alam (BNP), Md Abu Naser Sumon (BNP) and Md Abdus Sattar (AL) are vice-chairman candidates.
The female vice-chairman aspirants are Kamrun Nahar Luna (BNP) and Bilkis Begum (AL).
In Hossainpur upazila, Md Aiyub Ali (AL), Shah Mahbubul Haq (Al), Md Zahirul Islam (BNP) and Md Sohrab Uddin Morol (JP) to vie for chairman post while Md Mobaris Mia (AL), Md. Nurul Amin Parvez (BNP), Selina Akter (AL), Sharmin Akter (BNP) and Begum Rokeya are vice-chairman aspirants.
In Kuliarchar upazila, Syed Hasan Sarwar (AL), Nure Millat (BNP) will contest for chairman post. Syed Nur-e-Alam (AL) and Mesbah Uddin (BNP) are to fight for vice-chairman post.
Salma Rahman (BNP), Syeda Nasima (Al) and Bilkis Akter (Indipendent) are vice-chairman aspirants.
Ninety-four centres with 674 polling booths for 2,55,115 voters of Sadar, 49 centres with 384 polling booths for 1,17,305 voters of Hossainpur and 45 centres with 325 polling booths for 1,18,504 voters for Kuliarchar upazila have been selected for the polls, said returning officer Md. Jamil Ahmed.
