3-yr-old girl raped in capital

A three-year-old girl was raped in the capital's Mohammadpur on Saturday.
The victim's father alleged that one Siddiqur Rahman, 42, caretaker of a nearby apartment building, took the girl to his room and violated her there.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon but came to light following Siddiqur's arrest on Sunday night.
The victim's father lodged a case with Mohammadpur Police Station against Siddiqur and police arrested him around 11:00pm on Sunday night from the building he was employed at.
Police produced the accused before a Dhaka court on Monday and sought remand. The court sent Siddiqur to jail.

According to the first information report (FIR) of the case, after being violated, the terrified girl rushed home and told her mother what happened.
The victim was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital's One-stop Crisis Centre. Doctors at the centre said there was evidence of rape.
The girl's physical condition was stable, they added.
