Dhaka Metropolitan Police yesterday sealed off three food factories for producing vermicelli (semai) in an unhygienic environment in the capital's Kamrangirchar.
The DMP, however, did not arrest and fine any person or seize properties during the drive, which was conducted around 11:00am.
The factories are Nasir Foods, Habiba Foods and Mitali Foods at Khalpar.
Police collected samples from the factories for tests to learn whether those are adulterated, said RM Faizur Rahman, senior assistant commissioner (Lalbagh division) of DMP.
Prabir Hossain Hawlader, officer-in-charge of Kamrangirchar Police Station, said they could not find any of the owners, and  there were no signboards or nameplates of the factories during the raid.
