3 fishermen abducted

Three fishermen were abducted by 'forest robbers' from Jalghata area in the West Sundarbans under Satkhira range for ransom of Wednesday night.
The abducted fishermen are Mamun Hossain, 18, son of Gaffar Gazi, Saiful Islam, 20, son of Sirajul Islam and Jahur Ali, 22, son of Musa Gazi of Harinagar village in Shymnagar upazila.
Yasin Ali, 30, one of the two fishermen who were freed to bring the ransom money, said after taking permission from Kadamtala station, he along with four other fishermen went to catch crabs on Monday night.
On Wednesday night, the gang members of 'Jonab Bahini' took them hostage and beat them severally. Later the gang released two of them only for bringing the ransom money for release of the remaining three abductees, Yasin said.
Keramot Ali Mallik, assistant forest conservator of Satkhira Range, said he heard about the abduction incident.
Aminur Rahman, officer in-charge (OC) of Shymnagar Police Station, said they were yet to receive any information about the abduction of the fishermen.
