27 lose security deposits in five Khulna UZs
Twenty-seven candidates, who contested the March 23 polls for the posts of chairman, vice chairman and vice-chairman (reserved for women) in five upazilas of the district, have lost their security deposits for failure to get one-eighth of the cast votes.
Of them, four contested for the posts of chairman, 15 for vice chairman and the rest eight for woman vice-chairman.
The chairman candidates, who have lost their security deposits, are Moniruzzaman Mollick (independent) in Terokhada upazila, Ali Akbar Sheikh (AL rebel) in Rupsha upazila, Selim Sarder (independent) in Phultala upazila, and Asaduzzaman Jalal (iIndipendent) in Dakope upazila.
The vice chairman candidates are Narayan chandra Sarkar (AL)
in Batiaghata, Afzal Hossain (AL), Kishor Kumar Roy (CPB), Gourango Prashad Roy (WP) and Bhoboranjan Sarkar (BNP) in Dakope upazila; Shahin Alam (JP), Shandipan Kumar Roy (WP) and Sheikh Iqbal Hossain (BNP- rebel) in Phultala upazila, Janab Ali Sheikh (independent) in Terokhada upazila, Abdul Wadud Morol (JP), SM Azad Rahman (independent), Mahatap Hossain (BNP), Mollick Bozlar Rahman (independent), Sheikh Habibur Rahman (Bikolpodhara) and Kamrul Hasan Palash (Jamaat) in Rupsha upazila.
Woman vice chairman candidate losing security deposits are Shanaz Akter (independent) and Parul Begum (JP) in Rupsha upazila; Kowshalya Roy (BNP) in Dakope upazila, Mosammat Mafia , Minara Begum, Rehena Afroza and Lotika Mondal in Batiaghata upazila.
