City hotelier killed

A hotel boy allegedly killed a hotelier and took away Tk 25,000 from the cash box in the city in the early hours of yesterday.Police recovered the body of the hotelier identified as Durjoy Chakrabarti, 50, manager of Deepa Hotel and Restaurant at Malibagh from inside the hotel at 10:00am. Hotel staffs saw the shutter of the hotel open in the morning and found the body of the manager lying in a pool of blood inside the hotel. They also found the cash box broken where Tk 25,000 was kept as balance of the previous day. The staffs informed the owner and police who recovered the body later. Police said hotel boy Liton and Durjoy slept inside the restaurant after Monday midnight. Nothing could be known about Liton who went into hiding with the money after the killing, police said. A case was filed with Ramna Police Station.
