Headed by Senior Scientific Officer of the Directorate of Fisheries Mokammel Huq, the team also included Inspector Rafiqul Islam of the same directorate and Assistant Director Anup Kumar Saha of Export Promotion Bureau under Ministry of Commerce.

The six shrimp processing factories visited by the team are National Sea Foods, Jahanabad Sea Foods, Locpur Fish Processing Factory, Rupsha Fish & Allied Industries Ltd, Bagerhat Sea Food and Southern Sea Foods Ltd, said a source of Bangladesh Frozen Food Exporters' Association (BFFEA).

The source said these export-oriented factories were allegedly exporting processed frozen shrimps which were unhygienic and containing nitrofuran.

The team will submit a report to the government shortly, the source added.

Members of the team were accompanied by Deputy Director of Fish Inspection and Quality Control (FIQC) Alimur Rahman, President of BFFEA Kazi Belayet Hossain and its Vice-President MA Baki while inspecting the factories.
