Some 50 women from poor families in monga prone areas in the district have the town with new hopes. They will be joining jobs at a garments facory in Dhaka, arranged by joint forces. Gaibandha district administration has also made arrangements for their food and shelter at their workplace at M/s Experimental Closing Ltd at Savar EPZ. They will be provided with 20 kg rice each for one month and free traveling from Gaibandha to Dhaka. A reserved coach with the 50 women and their five guardians led by a magistrate left Gaibandha on Sunday for Dhaka. Twenty-seven of the women are from Fulchari, two from Shaghata, five each from Gobindagnaj and Sunderganj, one from Polashbari, four from Sadullapur and six from Gaibandha Sader upazila. Sources in joint forces said efforts to rehabilitate poor women of monga prone areas in Gaibandha district will continue. More 50 women will get similar jobs soon, they said. Steps will be taken to arrange jobs for other monga prone areas of northern districts, the district administration said.
