Ex-MP among 194 Gazipur AL men sued

Nephew of arrested BNP leader Hannan Shah, Fakir Iskander Alam Janu, yesterday filed a case against 194 Kapashia thana unit of Awami League (AL) leaders and activists including a former lawmaker.

The accused include, among others, former AL lawmaker Mohammad Shahidullah, Kapashia AL President Asgor Rashid and General Secretary Ruhul Amin.

The complainant filed the case with the Court of First Class Magistrate Kazi Nurunnahar under the Arms and Explosive Substances Act.

According to the case statement, the accused attacked the houses of Hannan Shah and the plaintiff at Kapashia on October 28 last year, the day four-party alliance government handed over power to the caretaker government, with arms and explosives.

They also assaulted other family members and looted household goods, alleged the plaintiff.

Kapashia AL general secretary earlier on May 6 filed a case in the same incident accusing 96 BNP leaders and activists including Hannan Shah and his son Rezaul Hannan.

Following the case, the court directed the officer-in-charge of Kapashia Police Station to investigate the incident and take necessary legal steps.
