Much hyped 'Daruchini Dwip' goes into production

Talented playwright Humayun Ahmed's work has a distinctive style and quality. The mohurat of his most recent and much-awaited film Daruchini Dwip based on his book with the same name, was held at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel yesterday. Celebrated actor-turned-director Tauquir Ahmed will direct the film. Popular artistes Abul Hayat, Asaduzzaman Noor, Aly Zaker, Dolly Zahur, Riaz, Challenger, Sara Zaker, Afroza Banu, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Lux Channel i Super Star'06 finalists Bindu and Badhon and others are the major cast members of the film. The film will be shot at the Dhaka Kamlapur railway station along with the panoramic locations of Saint Martin, Chittagong seaport and Dhamrai. Charisma, confidence, stage presence and overall performance were the evaluating criteria by the esteemed judges who decided on last year's Lux Channel i Super Star. The finalists were selected out of more than 10,000 entries from all over the country. The winner of the contest Momo was selected to play the lead role of Jori in the film based on Daruchini Dwip. Naushad Karim Chowdhury, brands and development director of Uniliver Bangladesh Limited and sponsor of the film, Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Channel-i and Impress Telefilm Ltd, writer Humayun Ahmed, artistes of the film Aly Zaker, Asaduzzaman Noor; director and artist of the film Tauquir Ahmed spoke on the launching ceremony. Humayun Ahmed captivated the audience with his stimulating ideas and humorous anecdotes. The film will be made under the banner of Impress Telefilm Limited.
