British High Commissioner Anwar Choudhury extended the assistance as he called on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Information Adviser Mainul Hosein at the latter's office yesterday.

The envoy discussed the issues of voter ID card and transparent ballot box, assuring all necessary cooperation from his government in this regard.

Anwar thanked Mainul for taking initiative for separation of the judiciary from the executive.

The law adviser suggested the high commissioner to cooperate with a reconstituted election commission as per their requirement after the EC reform--now under process.

Mainul also thanked the envoy for their cooperation in various fields of Bangladesh.

Anwar Choudhury also met Communications Adviser Major General (retd) MA Matin at his office yesterday.

He appreciated the initiatives taken by the present nonparty caretaker government for holding an impartial election in Bangladesh.

The envoy assured the adviser that the assistance for different ongoing DFID-funded development projects in Bangladesh would continue.

The adviser said the caretaker government has taken and implemented various initiatives for the development of Bangladesh and the welfare of its people.

He also informed the British high commissioner that the government would ensure transparency in all of its activities in holding the election to be acceptable to all.
