Hundreds of AL leaders and workers joined the procession, carrying national and party flags, colorful festoons and makeshift boats in a festive mood.

The procession started from Engineers Institution in the afternoon and terminated at Bangabandhu Museum at Dhanmondi after parading the main city streets.

Earlier, Awami League leaders Sajeda Chowdhury, Abdur Razzak, Tofail Ahmed and Suranjit Sengupta along with the party activists placed wreaths at Shikha Chiranton (eternal flame) at Suhrawardhy Udyan.

Prior to the procession, a brief rally was held in front of the Engineers Institution with AL presidium member Amir Hossain Amu in the chair.
