Sheva a 'lap dog': Berlusconi

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has been quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport internet site as making fun of Ukrainian striker Andrei Shevchenko concerning his relationship with his wife.

According to Gazzetta, Berlusconi claims it was the wife of the 2004 European footballer of the Year who urged him to leave AC Milan and join London club Chelsea.

Berlusconi was quoted as saying Shevchenko's wife treats him like a little dog.

"I real man would not have behaved like that," former Italian prime minister Berlusconi said on leaving the Christmas dinner of the club on Wednesday. "In my house, I'm the boss and I decide what needs to be done.

"As for Shevchenko, when his wife calls him, he just comes running like a little dog."

However AC Milan denied Berlusconi had made the comments through his righthand man at the club, Adriano Galliani, who said: "Berlusconi made reference to several saucy images regarding himself but he never referred to the champion footballer who has written some of the most important pages in our club's history."
