BDR, BSF trade fire on Dinajpur, Thakurgaon borders

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) traded shots on Bhaigarh border in Birampur upazila in Dinajpur and on Betna, and Dabi borders in Haripur upazila in Thakurgaon Saturday night and yesterday respectively, according to BDR source. They said BSF troops from Bhimpur outpost across the border fired at least six shots Saturday night. BDR of 15 Battalion in Dinajpur sector replied with five shots. At least one Indian civilian was injured in the cross-fire, who could not be identified, BDR said. BDR official sent a letter protesting the 'unprovoked' firing. However, no flag meeting were arranged till yesterday. On Betna and Dabi borders in Thakurgoan district, BSF from Kaderganj camp fired at least 10 shots yesterday morning. However it could not be known the reason why the firing took places. BDR did not retaliate with shots but later sent a strong protest, BDR sources said.
