'Sisimpur' reaches nine million Bangladeshi children

Sisimpur, an educational show for the young ones sponsored by Unilever Bangladesh Ltd (UBL) currently boasts an audience of nine million children (age between 3 to 6) in the country. Unilever celebrated this accomplishment at Emmanuel's Banquet Hall in Gulshan on December 7. On this occasion UBL celebrated its commitment in association with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to inspire the children of Bangladesh to laugh, learn and dream through the lovable muppet characters Halum, Tuktuki, Shiku and Ikri Mikri. Sisimpur, made by non-profit organisation Sesame Workshop, is a television series for preschoolers, combining both education and entertainment. With its positive influence, Sisimpur has become one of the most highly regarded educational show for children in Bangladesh. It uses a combination of muppets, animation, and actors to teach young ones basic skills, healthy eating habits, social skills, proper hygiene, the basics of reading and more. The outreach material will be distributed through community facilities such as hospitals, public preschools, informal preschools, community centres, NGOs, and other organisations working for children. Among the distinguished dignitaries who spoke at the event were Gene George, mission director of USAID; Naushad Chowdhury, brands and development director (UBL); Mos-tafa Monwar, creative consultant of Sisimpur; Asaduzzaman Noor, deputy director of Asiatic; Aly Zaker, chief executive officer of Asiatic and Sara Zaker, project head ofSisimpur. The show is currently aired on BTV every Friday at 9:05am, Saturday at 2:05pm, Tuesday at 2:05pm and Wednesday at 2:05pm.
