Seven sector commanders concerned at present crisis

Seven sector commanders of the War of Liberation are expected to issue a clarion call today to all freedom fighters and the people from all strata to stand united at this critical juncture of the nation ahead of the general election.The sector commanders -- Deputy commander-in-chief of the Liberation War AK Khandaker, Maj (retd) Rafiqul Islam, Maj Gen (retd) Shafiullah, Maj Gen (retd) CR Dutta, Maj Gen (retd) Mir Shawkat Ali, Lt Col (retd) Kazi Nuruzzaman and Lt Col (retd) Abu Osma Chowdhury -- are likely to make a joint call from a press conference at the National Press Club today. They may put forward several proposals with a view to ensuring a free, fair and peaceful general election to fulfil the unfinished tasks of the war.
