Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members seized 24 private cars from two garages in the city on Thursday night as the garage owners failed to produce valid documents of the cars. They also arrested two people in this connection, said a Rab press release. The elite force conducted a raid on a garage on the ground floor of an apartment at Chamelibagh at 8:30pm after they received information that some people were planning to sell a yellow taxi after changing its colour. The guards of the apartment told the Rab members that the car belongs to KM Hafiz Rahat, who is now abroad for treatment. His brother Khandakar Mezbah said Rahat and his business partners are running a Car Centre, but its manager Kauser failed to produce valid documents. During interrogation, the Rab members came to know that they have a garage at Alampur Merul Badda. The Rab team also went to that garage and found out 23 more cars, but the garage owner Alamgir Hossain Bangali failed to produce any documents. The Rab members then arrested Alamgir and Kausar.
