He urged his party men to work together being imbued with the spirit of 1971 and win the "vote war" so that the BNP-Jamaat alliance could never get back to power.

The LDP president was speaking at a programme at the office of its front organisations in Moghbazar in the city where more than 1,000 leaders and activists of different political parties joined the LDP.

He said the BNP-Jamaat government has "looted" crores of public money during its five-year tenure like the Pakistani occupying forces who had looted the assets of the country.

Demanding arrest of corrupt ministers and lawmakers of the immediate past government, he said it would not be possible to hold a free and fair election unless punitive measures are taken against those who "plundered" crores of taka from the government coffer.

Badruddoza also said the Election Commission must be reconstituted in consultation with all political parties except BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.

He also reiterated his demand for cancellation of all contractual appointments in the administration and reinstate those who were made officers on special duty (OSD) on political considerations.

LDP leaders Ali Kadar, Prof Nurul Amin Bapary, Firoz M Hasan and Lion Wazed Ali Chowdhury Parvez also spoke.
