Fire at garment factory in Gazipur: 27 injured

At least 27 workers were injured in a devastating fire at a garment factory at Naujore under Gazipur Sadar upazila yesterday morning.Fire Brigade and local sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at BHT Factory at about 9:30am and gutted yarn and machinery. On information, fire fighters from Gazipur and Tongi rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze with the help of workers at around 11:00am. The injured are undergoing treatment at Gazipur Sadar Hospital. Factory authorities estimated the damage caused by the fire at about Tk 10 crore.
