Correction
A quote of Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid was not published correctly in a news headlined "Spoke put in advisers' EC recast wheel" in yesterday's issue of The Daily Star. In fact he said, "The president may appoint a new election commissioner on two conditions. Firstly, Awami League will have to give an assurance that it will participate in the election after the appointment and secondly the new election commissioner's position will be the sixth in the EC. So, there is no scope for making the new appointee acting CEC." We regret the mistake.
