Shop owner gunned down in city

A customer gunned down a tyre-store owner and injured another person at Shyamoli in the city last evening following a feud between the two over the payment of a radial.

The victim was Parvez Anwar, owner of Choice Tire and Battery Shop on Mirpur Road, while the injured Samsul Haque is an employee of a nearby shop.

Parvez's sister Lipi Begum said Mizanur Rahman Masum, whom she claimed to be a goon of the locality, killed her brother.

Lipi told the reporters that Masum bought a tyre from Parvez two months ago and paid for it with a cheque, which bounced.

Parvez failed to realise the money from Masum and the two were locked in a feud over the matter. Later, Parvez filed a general diary (GD) with Mohammadpur Police Station.

Lipi claimed that Masum along with a number of local goons sprayed bullets at Parvez near his shop around 7:00pm yesterday.

Both were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Parvez dead.
