The rejoinder termed baseless the statement that some political parties led by former president Badruddoza Chowdhury and Dr Kamal Hossain are going to kick off an alliance -- Juktofront -- on Wednesday.

It also termed baseless the information that the top leaders will meet formally on Tuesday upon finalisation of the declaration and the alliance will be launched through a press conference on Wednesday, saying that Gonoforum is not a party to any such decision or agreement.

"Thus, the report which names Gonoforum as one of the six parties which have so far 'agreed to form the alliance' is also incorrect and without any basis," Dr Kamal said in the rejoinder.

"The Jatiyo Oikkyo Moncho (and Gonoforum) and Bikolpo Dhara Bangladesh along with Tariqat Federation have for some time been working together to promote the unity of democratic forces to forge national consensus on electoral and democratic reforms in order to bring about meaningful change through a free and fair election," he added.
