What about others?

I was not happy to hear that the president was undergoing a bypass surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. I have no ill fillings towards him and wish him the swiftest and fullest recovery. My concern is that by flying of to Singapore to have his operation, the President of Bangladesh has shown that he has little confidence in the medical skills or resources available here. The vast majority of the ordinary citizens of Bangladesh neither have the resources or privilege of being treated in Singapore, and even in the clinics in Bangladesh given the costs involved. In the last few years several of my relatives had bypasses which were very costly. In some of my relatives' cases they were misdiagnosed of having heart attack when in effect they only had indigestion. The government high-ups, instead of using state resources to fly to foreign countries to cater for their medical needs, should take the time to sort out the medical profession and ensure that all the people of Bangladesh have adequate access to high standard medical treatment.
