US firm to help find out American partners for joint ventures


Gale International Commerce Group (GICG), a US-based business consulting firm, yesterday offered assistance to local business groups to find out American partners in forming joint ventures along with fund assurance.

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) will provide at least 60 percent of the fund of the joint venture projects, said the visiting delegation members of GALE assuring that the limit of the fund would be up to $300 million.

This was announced when a four-member delegation of the firm led by David Gale, president of Gale Int'l Group, and its local agent Skynet Global Business Ltd (SGBL) met members of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) in Dhaka.

Gale said the local investors should have financial resources and a successful business history in some selected sectors like textile, power, agro-based, leather, chemicals, pharmaceutical and auto parts industries.

Rafiqul Islam, president of the SGBL, said the firm would help local groups find out suitable partners from the USA for funding in the joint ventures and providing technology help and expertise.

While presiding over the meeting, BCI President AK Azad said Bangladesh is open to investment and US companies may invest in a larger way availing of the foreign investment packages offered by Bangladesh.
