CSKA Sofia to sign Petrov

CSKA Sofia will sign Macedonian defender Robert Petrov, the Lokomotiv Plovdiv player said in an interview in 7 dni sport newspaper on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, capped 21 times, is expected to sign a contact with the Bulgarian premier league runners-up on Wednesday after returning from Germany where Macedonia meet Turkey in a friendly on Sunday.

"I don't know a player in the Bulgarian championship who will reject an offer from CSKA," said Petrov.

The Macedonian's comments have increased speculation that CSKA's Brazilian-born defender Tiago Silva will join Greece's AEK Athens.

"He (Tiago) is a very good player and I know it won't be easy to replace him," said Petrov.

Petrov will become the fifth Lokomotiv Plovdiv player to move to CSKA in the last six months after Alexander Tunchev, Kiril Kotev, Georgi Iliev and Daniel Georgiev joined the capital-based side in December.

CSKA Sofia finished second in the Bulgarian premier league with 65 points from 28 matches, three points adrift of champions Levski Sofia. Lokomotiv Plovdiv were fifth on 40 points.
