Mortar shell found at shrimp bed

Police recovered an 18-inch-long unexploded mortar shell yesterday from a shrimp enclosure at Beel Dakatia under Dumuria upazila of Khulna district.

The live mortar shell is exclusively meant for the army, police said.

Vigorous investigation is going on as to why and how the powerful mortar shell was brought to the shrimp enclosure belonging to a political leader.

Three days ago, Sonadanga police recovered four live bombs from an abandoned house at Basupara.
