Drishtidaan
Special tele-film on Tagore's birth anniversary

On the occasion of Kobiguru Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary, Rtv will air a tele-film titled Drishtidaan on May 8.

Based on a short story by Tagore, the film revolves around Kumu, a woman who has devoted herself to her husband, Abinash and is blindly loyal to him. So much so that she doesn't even complain when she becomes blind due to Abinash's negligence. Abinash, a novice doctor, refuses to take her to an established ophthalmologist as it hurts his ego and gives her wrong medical treatment.

Out of guilt, Abinash puts his wife on a pedestal but while treating her like a goddess, he alienates Kumu. At one point Abinash even decides to remarry. The story features Kumu's fate.

Moushumi Biswas and Shoaib have played the lead roles in the film. Noted jatra-artiste Jyotsna Biswas is in a special role.

Scripted by Ria Mahmud, the tele-film has been directed by Aruna Biswas.
