Fire burns compartment of train


A fire burned down a compartment of a train while it was being repaired at Kamalapur Railway Station in the city yesterday.

Witnesses said fire broke out at about 12:10pm suddenly when four people were repairing the compartment placed at platform No 7 at the station.

The fire fighters said Fire Service and Civil Defence put out the fire in half an hour, but could not ascertain its origin.

Panic spread among the passengers but none was injured.
