Repression on minorities protested

Several hundred teachers and students of Dhaka University (DU) formed a human chain on the campus yesterday protesting repression on minority community at different upazilas of Gopalganj and Madaripur districts in the last two months.

Terming the repression as a ploy to destroy opposition's 'vote bank', they demanded immediate end to repression and punishment to the culprits.

Dhaka University Teachers' Association (Duta) President Prof Sharif Ullah Bhuiyan urged the government to stop all kinds of repression against minority people to uphold country's democracy and secular image.
