Jubo Dal Attack on Satkhira College
Principal, seven teachers among 50 injured

At least 50 students and teachers including the principal and some girl students of Salimpur Haji Nasir Uddin College in Kalaroa were injured in an attack yesterday, allegedly by activists of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, youth front of ruling BNP.

The Jubo Dal activists made the attack as the college authorities refused to allow a student to fill up HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) examination forms as he failed in the test examination, campus sources said.

They said Principal Abdul Momin and seven teachers were injured in the attack on the campus, led by Jubo Dal leaders.

The injured teachers are Sanjoy Kumar, Abdus Sabur, Nurzzaman, Mozammel Haq, Rafiqul Islam, Rabiul Islam and Abdul Jabbar flar and Others led by Abdul Kader.

The injured teachers and students were treated at local clinics. The hoodlums also damaged the furniture in some classrooms.

On information, police rushed to the college and chased away the attackers. When contacted, principal Abdul Momin confirmed the incident.

Kalaroa thana Officer-in-Charge Arzu Mia also confirmed the incident and said the principal has filed a case accusing Jubo Dal leaders Abdul Kader, Faroog and 40 others.

The sources said local Jubo Dal leaders had earlier appealed to the college authorities to allow Jahngir Hosain, a party man, to appear at the upcoming HSC examination. But the requests were turned down as he failed in the test examination.

The Jessore Education Board recently passed an order to colleges under it not to allow students failing in test examinations, the sources said.
