Viktoriya upsets Nigora


Ranjan Ram failed to reach the quarterfinal of the Dhaka Bank Bangladesh International Junior Tennis Championship when he crashed to fourth seeded Rungat Christopher of Indonesia 6-2, 6-1 at the National tennis Complex in Ramna yesterday.

Ranjan was the only local player to reach the second round of the boys' singles competition.

In the girls' singles, Russian wild-card entry Kamenskaya Viktoriya came from behind to shock second seed Sirojiddnova Nigora of Uzbekistan 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in an entertaining battle that lasted two hours and 43 minutes.

All the quarterfinals, boys' singles and doubles and girls' singles and doubles will be held today.
