Best's funeral in Belfast on Saturday

Football legend George Best's funeral will take place this Saturday at Stormont, the home of Northern Ireland's suspended assembly, in Belfast.

The palatial building, set in a green park, was chosen to accomodate the large numbers expected to pay their respects to the soccer great, whose funeral is expected to be the biggest Northern Ireland has ever seen.

Belfast-born Best died aged 59 from multiple organ failure in a London hospital on Friday after losing his long battle with alcoholism.

The former Manchester United and Northern Ireland winger is considered among the game's greatest-ever players.

The funeral is expected to take place in Stormont's Great Hall and be relayed to the crowds outside.
