3 DU students assaulted at BSMMU hospital

At least three Dhaka University (DU) students were injured during a clash with the Ansar battalion personnel at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) yesterday.

The injured Ripon, Saifuzzaman and Zahid were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital with severe injures in their bodies.

The clash began when on duty ansar personnel prevented Ripon, a resident at Suryasen Hall, from entering the hospital to meet his relative in the morning, sources said. Later, Ripon came to the campus and returned to the hospital along with a group of his friends.

Ripon attacked the ansar battalion personnel at one stge of altercation with them at the gate of the Block C. The ansar men beat up the DU students with the help of other staffs.

Security has been tightened at the hospital after the clash, police said.
