CPB enforces dawn-to-dusk hartal today

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) enforces a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal today to protest the price hike of fuel and essentials.
CPB President Manzurul Ahsan Khan and General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim yesterday in a statement urged people to make the hartal a success.
The statement said people are suffering from the soaring price of the essentials and feeling insecure under the rule of BNP-Jamaat alliance.
The CPB leaders also demanded uprooting of the communal forces involved in the August 17 countrywide blasts.
The Awami League-led 14 opposition parties, however, have shifted their September 18 countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal to September 21 as it coincides with the Queen's Baton Relay in Dhaka.
The mainstream opposition parties announced the hartal on September 7 in protest against fuel price hike and the government patronage of the extremists.
