2 'outlaws' die in 'crossfire'

Two alleged outlaws of Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) were killed in 'crossfire' between Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and their accomplices in Mohonpur in the early hours yesterday.

The Rab on Sunday arrested Feroz Mollik and Bablu Khan -- alleged members of PBCP Red Flag faction of Faridpur upazila in Pabna -- from Baroipara Farm at Kaliakoir in Gazipur.

The Rab-5 in a press release said they were taking the arrestees to Manda of Naogaon to nab their accomplices.

Outlaws opened fire on the elite force when they reached Mougachhi Bazar in Mohonpur, Rajshahi, the release said.

The Rab countered the attack, and Feroz and Bablu were killed in 'crossfire' during a seven-minute shootout, the release added.

The Rab seized one shutter gun, one bullet, 66 bottles of phensidyl and two machetes. The victims together were accused in seven criminal cases including four for murders.
