College student gunned down in Uttara

Unidentified assailants gunned down a college student while the police recovered body of an autorickshaw driver in city's Uttara area last night.

Imtiaj Shafiq Sourav, 18, who sat this year's HSC examinations from Rajuk Model School, went out of his house in the evening, said his mother Meherunnessa. A rickshawpuller brought bullet-hit Sourav in front of Mascot Plaza at around 8:30pm and locals took him to his house at sector-9.

Family members rushed him to a local clinic and later shifted him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead at about 9:20pm.

Sourav's father Shafiqul Alam could not say the reason why his son was killed.

Meanwhile, police recovered the body of autorickshaw driver Alamgir Sheikh, 35, dumped in a sack at Balughat last night.
