Seven hurt as part of Wapda building collapses
While an outcry is still on over the Savar tragedy following a factory collapse, a government-owned Wapda (Water and Power Development Authority) building partially collapsed in the city yesterday, leaving seven people injured.
Police said a veranda on the first floor of a four-storied staff colony building at Pallabi collapsed along with some people at about 4:30pm.
The injured were identified as Hajera, 80, Hasina, 70, Sabera, 50, Baby, 40, Shabana, 30, Mousumi, 8, and Liza, 6.
Locals said the five buildings of the colony are not habitable, but despite informing the authority of the condition, no action was taken to renovate or reconstruct the buildings.
