On the occasion UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in a message expressed his moral support to the victims of torture and reaffirmed his commitment to eradicate torture and cruelty, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment in whatever guise and manifestation they occur.

"It is an occasion to pause and remember torture victims who have not survived, to listen to the stories of those who are alive, and to support their quest for justice to them and their families" the message said.

Bangladesh Human Rights Commission (BHRC) will arrange a human chain in front of the Supreme Court Bhaban in the morning to express its solidarity with the victims of torture.
