6 policemen suspended

Six Policemen, including two havildars, were suspended as an accused in a robbery case escaped from their custody on the court premises at Bandarban on Sunday.

Bandarban police said Abu Bakar, 25, an accused in a robbery case filed with Alikadam Police Station, escaped from the custody while he was being taken to the prison cell from a court at noon.

Police sources said the six were suspended following a case filed by Abdur Raqib Khan, officer in-charge (OC) of Bandarban Police Station.

A departmental inquiry into the incident is going on, the sources added.
